This is Womble,
our New Animal Welfare
Liaison Officer!
Womble has taken over the role from Cadbury who we regretably lost together with her daughter Buttons late last year.Womble has some tough shoes to fill, and
making himself known to visitors at our office. Beeing just 7 months old he has not yet experianced fireworks but we are working with him to ensure he will be fine by November. However, most animals are scared of fireworks, some are absolutely
terrified!
Womble's tips to keep your pets and animals happier during
firework displays:
Firstly, if planning a show yourself, even a small garden display,
remember to inform your neighbours and local farms, stables etc.
Wherever possible, move animals indoors. This includes your pets
that might not normally live inside, like rabbits and guinea
pigs. Close all doors and windows. Turn on a TV or Radio and a
light in the room - this will help lessen the effects of the bangs
and flashes outside the window.
Make sure your pets are name-tagged, just in case they do get
frightened and manage to escape.
Don't take you pets to firework displays - they won't enjoy it!
